Araisal of Youth Day

Dr.Abdul Kalam,s birth day was celebrated as Youth Apprising Day. On this day DIET Kotagiri organized seminar on the topic” contributions of Kalam in various aspects of Indian science and technology”. All the students participated in the seminar. The seminar paved way to consolidate the entire life time achievements of Dr. Kalam. A talk on “missile man of india” by our student gave complete picture about Dr.Kalam..

Teachers Day Celebration

Teacher’s Day is celebrated on the 5th of September in DIET Kotagiri. Inorder to honour Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, India’s first vice president and second president. This day was presided over by our Principal. The participants were Staff members and Office Assistants and Students of 1st and2nd years. On this day Principal,s speech was about the great scholar, philosopher and Bharat Ratna recipient made the pre service students to realise India has commemorated Dr Radhakrishnan’s birth anniversary by paying tribute to its teachers and gurus on this day.All staff saluted the great person through their falicitation.Following that students organized cultural related to achievements and contributions made by Dr. Radhakrishnan to Indian Education system.

International Literacy Day Celebration

International Literacy Day, celebrated annually on 8 September, is an opportunity for Governments, civil society and stakeholders to highlight improvements in world literacy rates, and reflect on the world’s remaining literacy challenges.The theme of this year’s International Literacy Day is ‘Literacy in a Digital World’. On 7 and 8 September, 2018 a special two-day event was organized at DIET Kotagiri., with the overall aim to look at what kind of literacy skills people need to navigate increasingly digitally-mediated societies, and to explore effective literacy policies and programmes that can leverage the opportunities that the digital world provides.

Tree plantation

In order to sensitize the students towards conserving their ecology, we arranged tree planting programme in our DIET. Students from various places of the nilgiris were asked to collect nature friendly saplings. The collected saplings were planted around the campus. Species like jacaranda, local bills, and podo corpus trees were very special among them.

Field trip

People of DIET Kotagiri had a trip to Bavanisagar Dam and its nearby places. Down towards the slopes our students enjoyed various flora and fauna which were entirely different from the Nilgiris. Students done a small project at Bavanisagar regarding water resoviour and construction process. They had a visit to nearby monument Dhanvanthan Kottai and consolidated project was done.

Medical Camp

DIET Kotagiri conducted Medical camp for students of first and second year students.Doctors from Kattabettu Health Center organized special events especially to womens.After general check up a lecture was given about food and nutrition.Aibandazole and Iron tablets were given.

Scout and Guide camp

Three days Scout camp was conducted in DIET Kotagiri for first year students District co-ordinator for Scout Mr. Ganesan and Ms. Manjula gave orientation about Scout and Guide. Students participated and learnt many things about the activities of Scout and Guide.

Art and Craft Workshop

Art and Craft workshop was organized two days in DIET Kotagiri. Skilled art and craft resource persons were invited for this workshop and the following works were carried out. Origami, thread work, knitting, painting, mat work, weaving, pot painting, flower vase, door mat and embroidery at the end the workshop an art exhibition was conducted with the things prepared by the training students.

Red Ribbon Club (RRC)

Red Ribbon Club was organized on 29.11.2017 at DIET Kotagiri all the students were enrolled in Red Ribbon Club resource persons from DAPCO gave orientation about life skills to our training students. They were trained in such a way that they can face any problems in their future life in the society. They were given lecture about women safety measures.

World AIDS Day

D IET kotagiri joined hands with Nehru yuvakendra organization to conduct various sensitization programme related to HIV and AIDS. Rally was conducted by our students along with public from Gandhi Ground to Bus stand and Kamaraj square. After that our students gave awareness programme about HIV and AIDS to school students and Public along with cultural programmes.

Republic Day Celebration

In our DIET we have celebrated Republic Day in a grand manner our Principal hoisted our National Flag and our lecture gave valuable speech about our National Leaders. After that students performed cultural programmes with the theme of “ Unity in Diversity”.

TLM Preparation Workshop

Teaching Learning Materials, play a vital role in the present classroom situation. Teacher Training students must get practiced to prepare and use TLM for various subjects. The students prepared 2D and 3D models as TLM. The materials were prepared using Low cost and no cost materials. At the end of the workshop our students exhibited their models subject wise.

Science Week

We have conducted Science Practicals for the first and Second years students for five days in Science Laboratory in our DIET. First day we have planned four branches of Science namely Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology per day one subject to be conducted. Each and every students performed 58 experiments individually and gained hands on experience. They wrote observation in the Record Notebook and did Calculation and drew diagrams and submitted the Notebooks. In the final day of Science week we have arranged for a Science exhibition and students presented their working models in the exhibition. A Seminar was conducted about Dr. Sir C.V. Raman and about his invention.

NSS Special Camp

National Service Scheme Special Camp was organized by DIET Kotagiri at nearby village called Happy Valley. ‘Healthy India’ was the motto of the camp. The main objectives in the camp were solid waste management, Soil conservation, Rain water harvesting, Safety to women and Children, Organic and Healthy food, HIV and AIDS awareness, Environmental awareness, Family Planning awareness were given to NSS volunteers and orientation about NSS was given with Special Guest’s they were expert in the concerned field to the volunteers good food and guidance was given by the NSS Programme co-ordinator.
