District institute of education and training well known as DIET Kotagiri is located at top hills of Kotagiri. It is surrounded by Munsif cum Magistrate/Thaluk office and BSNL Office. Through Thaluk office the road Which Peneterate inside the Government Higher Secondary School leads to DIET Kotagiri. It was established in the year 1991. It is a district Resource Centre. Its head quarter is State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT).
SCERT under the guidelines of National Council of Educational Research and Training(NCERT), DIET’S are established at every district of tamilnadu. DIET’S have been established with a mission of “Providing academic and resource support at the grass – roots level for the success of the various strategies and programmes planned by state council of educational research and Training. Being as a Resource Unit DIET Kotagiri is keenly interested in upliftment of educational process of four blocks (Kotagiri, coonoor, Ooty and Gudalur). Apart from Supporting Schools of Various blocks, providing onsite support, conducting action research to spot the errors relating to existing school pattern and classroom process and preparing projects especially district specific and upliftment of tribal students as well as their entire community
